Welcome to the website for Friends in the Meadow,
a children's nature series!

Our Purpose
This book series is designed to help children have fun, learn about nature and life in general. Our purpose is to present simple things children can do as a hobby or other activities that will help them develop self-respect, build their self-esteem and at the same time, just enjoy life. Children feel good about themselves when they have something in their life that they can choose to do and in which they can excel. It can become a focus during stressful times as well as recreation for just fun times. When children feel good about themselves, chances are better that they will be more successful as teens and adults.
Another important reason for this series is to reinforce that nature and taking care of our Earth is very necessary for its future. In doing this we hope that children will learn that the earth has a natural order about it in order to function as it should and if humans interfere with that order, it could cause harm for future generations, maybe even their own. We introduce environmental issues not to scare children but to help them to become aware of the problems, learn to be responsible and to know what they can begin doing at their age to help. Each book will focus on a different animal usually in a story form with true facts included for educational purposes. These children's books will be appropriate for reading to preschoolers. They will also be entertaining to middle and older children. Most of the books will offer an activity or two relating to an animal, the story, nature or environment that is represented in the book.
About the Author
Peggy Williams and her husband, Wayne Williams, are natives of Alabama. Both earned a Master of Arts degree and are Licensed Professional Counselors.
Their life’s work has involved helping people in various settings including the church, counseling centers, treatment centers, residential programs, school settings, correctional facilities, military and mental health centers. They have also worked together in several of these settings primarily with children and families.
As both are nearing retirement, their thoughts have turned to other ways of helping. So the thought of writing Friends in the Meadow Book Series materialized and grew. It is an ongoing project that both are enjoying.
We hope the books will offer children hours of fun, a sense of peace about themselves and their world. We also hope the activities presented in the books will be shared with family members, forming a closer bond with each other.
